What has been missing from this discussion for far too long, particularly in the US, is how much the Jewish community contributed to and sacrificed for the Civil Rights movement. The players are dead and/or forgotten on both sides, replaced now by people like Farrakahn and Sheldon Adelson (may he rest in dirt), neither of whom promote(d) a fair image of what used to exist between the two communities. The criticism of Israel is, as is criticism of our own country, so often magnified by its current government and their practices...not particularly helpful, nor reminiscent of what it was like at the beginning of things. Netanyahu is no Ben Gurion, is he? Ben Gurion, despite open warfare in Israel, maintained open arms for everyone. And he was never accused of corruption.
