Not until recently myself did I finally understand that “living in the moment was a rather vacuous idea. That you cannot make plans or have goals without some sense of the future. And you can never feel grounded without some settled sense of the past. There’s no “freedom” in “living in the moment” except as some passing, meditative exercise. Otherwise it comes back to “live fast, die young” and where does that go? It goes to exactly where our world is today.
