The desire to share one’s privileges—rather than sharing the miserable conditions that others find themselves living in—is the essence of modern liberal imagination. Keeping the two separate as much as possible is what true “privilege” means, what defines the real vultures of the “one percent.”

And even if that desire is only known to one in their own heart, that should be valuable enough.
