Just to hear that breeze makes my days brighter and brings the warm air into my heart. Soon our azaleas will bloom, a cousin, and, not far away in the mountains nearby, the Rhododendron dauricum, or what locals call “April rose,” another cousin of Alpenrose, will bloom as well. The hummingbirds will find them, as they have for thousands of years, generation after generation, by dint of sunlight, traveling through storms from Central America, just to feed on their nectar, mate and nest and have babies, then return south through storms.
