In (yet another) recent kerfuffle over Grammarly taking place at Illumination someone suggested that particular AI “is currently able to scan 800 million + websites for plagiarism. These plagiarism stats are continuously updated on their website as they add more websites on a daily basis.”

As if that were sufficient. The only way to properly account for plagiarism would be if one could maintain the type of AI that super-secret government agencies like the NSA or GRU run.

Let’s hope Grammarly never attains that level of proficiency and that Medium editors do not rely on such power instead of their own minds. And that they should use their minds in a more meaningful way in order to earn the title of "editor." Removing a Dickens quote indeed...
