I wrote this at a time when Medium was far more about community than it is today, unfortunately.

Today it is much more self-centered, despite the fact that so many of us are still hopeful and concerned with each other. The platform itself has become focused in on itself and the individual. Monetary values are based purely on “reading time” and getting others “signed up” to the platform.

This shouldn’t stop us from attempting to communicate and share and be supportive, but I think it has to a great degree. It is sad.
