Depending upon who you listen to (so don’t EVER listen to ME!!!) everyone has a “surefire method” to make a five-digit monthly income on Medium. Unfortunately, it seems only to work for...THEM!!!

Have you noticed how so many of the top publications are closing, one by one? No one is certain why (although “the experts” all seem to have an opinion). And more and more the publications that stay in business are tightening up their submission guidelines. People don’t seem to think about this, but the “owners” of publications make money from them. And if they find they aren’t making enough one way or the other they close them or change the rules.

Of course, some owners, like so many writers, aren’t here for the money. Anyone can write and publish, and anyone can start a publication (if you’re a member). Both are free.

But no one has a surefire, consistent method for building an audience. Every method has been tried. It’s like everything else in life: a matter of chance. And coincidence. And timing. Luck. And, of course, talent. You have the talent.

With the talent, if you have the confidence to keep trying (in other words, banging your head on the wall over and over) odds are sooner or later SOMETHING will happen. Whether or not that something will click and turn into something BIG BIG BIG is another matter.

NOW...

While you are diligently banging your head on that wall you have plenty of time to figure out what you WANT!!! So, play around. Enjoy yourself! Have a good time! Do whatever you want! Open doors! Submit your work to all the publications you like! No one will stop you. Oh, okay, a few people will, of course, say “NO!!” rather emphatically. But, who cares about THEM, right? What do they matter?

Stupid people.
