According to The Maverick Files (I don’t know his real name; he’s one of the former editors at Illumination who quit over the Cooper firing) so many times “the overrun” are not entirely capable, at least that’s the impression. And from what I’ve seen, that’s plausible. Jonathan Greene thinks Illumination is a pyramid scheme and even calls it a “cult” and won’t accept any writers in his pub who publish there. I’ve worked with Jonathan for years and owe him a great deal. He’s also on the warpath over a number of other pubs and I don’t understand quite what he’s getting at (do you?) except that I do, at times, see Mehmet’s weirdness. Then I’m weird at times (I say so in my bio!) and so are most people here. So is Jonathan. I don’t believe that’s cause for prejudice, necessarily. I published that Grammarly piece in Illumination and it was highly critical of what Mehmet had done, so I don’t see the “cult” thing at all. It is about money, but then so much here is about money. Ev Williams is as much a cult as Mehmet.
The point(s) being that you are right and I agree...he should be paying some of that money out. He’s got too big a thing going and is making too much and should be spreading it around some. Plus, I actually think he DOES have a fairly decent sense of community going over there (and I think he is primarily responsible for that) at least better than most, although it is rather quirky and often strays off the platform. And perhaps that’s why Jonathan thinks of it as a cult.
