The story of my stories

rows of standing, old fashioned yellow computer discs

There is no proper and neat way to do this.

So one has to find the “best” way, one’s personal way around it until someone else does find the truly best way.

Of course, others claim to have found the best way…if you understand coding and computer science, which I do not. So, screw them. …

After nearly forty years of living in, first, the deep South, and then, the Midsouth, I can say without hesitation that I hate it.

The Midsouth more, definitely. Here, like the Midwest, people praise the Lord and place their trust in the Lord rather than praising and placing their trust in people.

It’s why they don’t trust scientists, why they don’t trust politicians, why they don’t trust educators. Why they don’t trust each other. Why they cheat on each other (oh, golly, do they ever; it’s the basis for country music most of the time). It’s why they drink so much so often and why they fight so much.

It’s why they show up to give you an estimate for work and you never hear from them again.

It’s why they say, “Bless your heart,” and you don’t know if they mean, “I’m praying for you” or “Go fuck yourself.”

Poor Dred Scott
if only you’d come to Missouri a few months earlier
when we had our heads on straight
when the smell of war wasn’t confusing white men
making us think we’d best hide the evidence
as usual
not knowing which way we’ll turn
as usual
Iowa there, Kansas there, Tennessee here
who will we be fighting
nope, can’t…

Oh, god. Another “Who to Follow” showing me another “Life Coach” who hasn’t even hit twenty-five-years old yet.

If I see another one of these I swear I’m going to seriously damage someone. And it isn’t going to be me. I’d rather see another crypto “member.” …

Kyrsten Sinema now has two options in front of her: retire to some posh resort (probably her fantasy) or become a Republican (that won’t work, either).

Of course, she could…

Excuse him for not speaking the King’s English.

He’s from Turkey. But it does give him some great advantages at the same time. Like not having to dig his way out from under a lot of Western bullshit.

So, he’s able to read Victor Frankl and cut right to the point:

“In the end, we realize that life is not something to be taken lightly, as each of us turns into a tragic hero at that very painful point where life takes us lightly.

“Everyone has tragedies like this in their life. What is personal, has only meaning and value in personal life…

“If we do not understand, our art will continue to be tricky, our thinking to trickery, and our politics to trickery.”

And if you want to make “art” out of that “tragedy,” you have to work that “trickery” into the universality of “life” itself. It isn’t personal.

Before it’s too late

It would seem, horror of horrors, that I am beginning to display the behaviors of an old man. Oh, not here on Medium of course. Here I continue to maintain the behavior of a four-year-old, as ever, and that isn’t going to change, thank goodness.

No, in my real life…
